Here is another example from Matchbox's Best of the World Series 2 - the Volkswagen T2 Bus in Volkswagen Service livery. The tampos on these models is great - well done and realistic. As a premium model, this has tampos on 3 sides. Hopefully this will be a success for Mattel, as I really look forward to a 2018 series.
Modeling in (mostly) 1/72nd scale (and any other subject that catches my attention - author suffers from acute "shiny item" syndrome)

M2 1959 Volkswagen Double Cab Truck - USA Model - Walmart exclusive
M2 Machines has done an admirable job with its Volkswagen Double Cab series sold through Walmart. Here is the 1959 Volkswagen Double Cab Truck USA Model. Looks great with its stock rims and the authentic paint scheme. Would have loved to have found one of the chase pieces, but no such luck.

M2 1959 Volkswagen Double Cab Truck USA model - Walmart exclusive
M2 has released a new series of Volkswagen Double Cab trucks exclusively through Walmart. At almost $6 a pop, they are a little pricey (as compared to the basic Hot Wheels). But these models look really, really good. Here is the 1959 Volkswagen Double Cab truck with a customized look. The paint may be correct for the period, but the wheels are definitely not stock. This could be the cherry red with black, but I'm terrible at telling.

Johnny Lightning Volkswagen 1965 Type 2 Pickup
Johnny Lightning is kind of hit and miss with me ... some of the castings are clunky. But when they released a good casting, such as this Volkswagen Type 2 pickup, it was really good. The lines look great, the paint is spot on, and the details are well rendered. Glad I was able to add this to my collection.

Matchbox Classic Cars 5-Pack from 2008
I was excited to find this Matchbox 5-pack just the other day at Walmart. I believe it was originally issued in 2008, so not sure why it's just making it to a shelf. Every car in it is a winner, so quickly snapped it up.

M2 Machines 1957 VW Beetle Deluxe European Model
I love a quirky compact car, and the classic VW Beetle certainly fits the bill. M2 Machines does a great case recreating the feel of the VW. I love the subtle shading for the retracted cloth top, and the well done tampos for the details, including the lights. The model is delicate, so suitable only for display.

Matchbox Volkswagen Concept 1 from 1997 Regular Series (49 of 75)
Hard to belief that this is 18 years old. Here is Matchbox's VW Concept 1 (MB267), reported at 1:61 scale. Looks good for its age. I have 3 variants of these in my collection.

Matchbox 2014 Exotics 5-Pack
Matchbox will release variations of its models that are only available in their multi-packs. The 2014 Exotics includes a Lamborghini Miura P400S, a BMW Z8 Roadster, a Lotus Exige, a Chevy Corvette ZR1, and a Volkswagen W12 Concept. I liked every one of these, so buying this was a no-brainer.
