Matchbox 5-pack Hazard Squad -1939 Chevy Delivery Van (MB746)

Matchbox recently released a new 5-pack featuring hazmat vehicles. I like Matchbox emergency vehicles generally, so this set was going into my collection. But the decider for me was the 1939 Chevy Delivery. I wish the tampos were more realistic - I don't fancy the paranormal research decals, and would have preferred not to have the '39 Chevy sporting hazmat markings. But still happy overall with the vehicles, warts and all. Here is the '39 Chevy Delivery.

Hot Wheels 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 (16452)

The July meeting for the Indy Hot Wheels Club includes a diecast show and is well-attended by a fair number of vendors. I was able to add to my burgeoning collection and picked up this loose version of a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 (16452) that was part of a 4 car set "40th Anniversary of Signature '57s Legends" that was released in 1997. Haven't seen the other cars up close, but this model is very well done and shows how good Hot Wheels can be on their premium models. It was a bargain at $2.00.

auto world 1963 Dodge Polara

Here is one of my favorite diecast models - auto world's 1963 Dodge Polara. The paint seems to be period accurate, and it looks great. The details are well done, and the overall look is spot on. And it's not another Charger or Challenger - I appreciate some variety.

Futuramic 98 Holiday Coupe - a Valvoline give-away

Really stoked to have stumbled across this at a flea market - it's a 1949 Oldsmobile Futuramic 98 Holiday Coupe. It is marked with Valvoline on the bottom, and it kind of looks like a Yat Ming offering (though I'm happy to be proven wrong). While it is a little rough, it certainly is unique.

Hot Wheels Talbot-Lago T150 (H9065) - 2005 Mainline

Today's offering is a selection from the 2005 Mainline - the Talbot-Lago T-150 (H9065). The art deco vibe is great, and the louvering on the hood is well rendered. The ridge line along the center line represents where the body panels were riveted together. Love this casting and love this version.

1936 Cord 810 Winchester Sedan - Hot Wheels Hall of Fame Series (B2545)

This is by far my favorite model by Hot Wheels in my collection. It is the 1936 Cord 810 (B2545)  from the 2003 Hall of Fame Series - Legends. It is honoring Gordon Miller Buehrig. From the card:
"Credit for the 810 Cord has been given to many, but no one more deserving than Gordon Miller Buehrig, who brought his talents to three legendary marques: Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg. While still in his twenties, Buehrig's contribution to the evolution of the automobile was already substantial. As chief designer at Duesenberg from 1929 to 1933, he was responsible for numerous celebrated coachwork designs. In bringing his passion for design to the Cord, Buehrig created a thing of beauty; graceful in proportions, low-slung and high powered. He avoided conventional design techniques, while realizing the entirely new and historic 810 Cord."

Cord was Indiana based, so it has added appeal for me. This model has some of the best tampos I've seen, and I love these wheels and the interior. It is just about perfect.

Model Power 1/87 scale 1955 Chevy Bel Air

I've picked up a few HO scale cars. Not really sure why, as I really don't dabble in 1/87th scale trains. I think I got them at Walmart, but can't really remember. Liked the model, so added it to my hoard.

Matchbox Dodge 1938 Airflow Special

Matchbox released a series of Coca-Cola dioramas and I just picked up the '30s offering. Features a 1938 Dodge Airflow Special (MB338).

Hot Wheels 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible (CFR28) - 2015 Entertainment series "The Brady Bunch"

I think this may be the first version of the '56 Chevy convertible Hot Wheels has released. Based on a car that appeared in a Brady Bunch episode, the '56 Chevy (CFR28) is from the 2015 Entertainment series. Decided to try out some different filters.

Hot Wheels 1956 Chevy Bel Air (N9046) from Larry's Garage (2 of 20). As a premium this has metal body and chassis, and Real Rider tires. Looks good in Champagne. There is an unfortunate blemish in the passenger side paint.

Carmel, IN Artomobilia Car Show

Went to the Artomobilia car show back on August 29th. It was well attended, so getting good photos of the cars was difficult if not impossible. Nice variety as to the cars that were on display. Especially liked the custom Lincoln station wagon.

Stumbled across some Ford's that were participating in some sort of meet at Turkey Run State Park back on August 22, 2015.

Hot Wheels Bugatti Type 57C (B6245)

Picked this up recently at the Indy Hot Wheels Club. It's the Hot Wheels 1939 Bugatti Type 57C (B6245). It's from 2004 Showcase Hot Wheels Drop Tops Series (2 of 4). I paid $4 for it, which seems like a bargain. The interior is well detailed, especially for Hot Wheels. The pin-stripping seems fanciful, but the look certainly conveys the elegance of the original. From the packaging:
"The French-built Type 57C Bugatti is considered one of the most elegant and sophisticated body styles ever conceived. Very few of these Bugattis were ever produced, making them highly desirable commanding prices in seven figures. Our detailed model offers a roadster rich in history without a rich price tag."

Hot Wheels Retro Entertainment '48 Ford Super De Luxe (BDT84) from The Karate Kid

Here is Hot Wheels 1948 Ford Super De Luxe convertible (BDT84) released as part of the Retro Entertainment line. The car appears in The Karate Kid, where Daniel is taught the proper way to wash it ("wax on, wax off"). That phrase, more than anything else, is what I associate with the movie. This is a nice model, though there is a little quality control issue (maybe too much paint) on the driver side. Also, since this is a premium model, more period accurate rims would have been nice.

Hot Wheels '56 Chevy Nomad Delivery (R3741) from 2010 Slick Rides series (27/34)

Another premium line from Hot Wheels - 2010 Slick Rides. This '56 Chevy Nomad Delivery features metal body and chassis, and Real Riders wheels. Marked with "Milodon" and "50 Years of Racing Technology". This is a great casting and is well done.

Johnny Lightning 1937 Cord 812 SC Convertible

Here is the 1937 Cord 812 SC Convertible from Forever 64 Release 7 (part #976). When cataloging my collection I try to note when the model was released and its part number. With Hot Wheels, this is easy; with Johnny Lightning, not so much. I found a listing of casting numbers for Johnny Lightning, but I can never be sure when the particular model was released.

Johnny Lightning 1931 Cadillac Cabriolet

Here is a Johnny Lightning Forever 64 model from Release 12. It's the 1931 Cadillac Cabriolet. I'm filling in wholes in my collection by picking up Johnny Lightning releases at shows or off of eBay. Hot Wheels and M2 do a good job of hitting some of the classic cars, but its nice to have additional versions.

Hot Wheels Classic Packard (R7436) - from the 2010 Mainline, Treasure Hunt segment

Here is the Classic Packard (R7436), from the 2010 Treasure Hunt segment. Number 3 of 12 for that segment, it is 47 out of 240 mainlines released that year. As a treasure hunt, the tampos are a little special. The pin striping is well done, and the overall effect works for this casting. Wish that it had whitewalls, though. From the card back:

Hot Wheels 1952 Hudson Hornet (DHR12) from 2016 Mainline HW Flames

Here is the '52 Hudson Hornet, released as part of the 2016 Hot Wheels Mainline (97/250). It is #7 of 10 from the HW Flames segment. Love the casting, but not too fond of the paint scheme. Will need to try my hand at detailing this one.
