Hot Wheels Star Wars Planet Series - Tatooine

Here is The Vanster (DJL09), number 3 of 8 from the 2016 Star Wars Planet series. This series was another Walmart exclusive.  It was an 8-car series released around October of 2016. All of the cars in this series were non-licensed vehicles, so interest among collectors for the series for the cars themselves seemed limited. I've seen it said elsewhere that, while the card art was impressive, that was the only thing going for this series. I've liked all of Hot Wheels Star Wars offerings, including this one.
The Vanster has decos to commemorate Tatooine. This cost the same as a car from the basic line, so no special wheels, and no all-around tampos. I like the Vanster anyway, and like the tampos on it here. And the card art does look good.

Hasbro Star Wars Command - Arena Assault

asbro sold a series of sets of toy soldiers featuring Star Wars characters and vehicles. The figures are around 1/32 scale, and the vehicles just vary in scale. I was able to snag a fair number of these when they started being sold at 1/2 off. You sometimes still see them in discount stores, but at closer to retail prices. I have seen examples painted up - I haven't tried that yet.

2016 Hot Wheels Star Wars series - # 4 Rockster (DJL07)

Hot Wheels releases (it seems almost monthly) small series of themed cars that are available exclusively at Walmart. A few months ago there was another 8 car release with a Star Wars theme - this time, planets shown in the movies. I assume in a bid to save money, the cars in these series are not licensed vehicles. That really isn't a draw back for me, as I get these for the tampos and the art work, not for the cars in particular. Here is Rockster (DJL07), a good choice to represent Hoth.

Hasbro Biggs Darklighter's X-Wing from Star Wars A New Hope

Hasbro, as part of its Titanium Series of diecast vehicles from Star Wars, released a 4-pack of vehicles. Here is Biggs Darklighter's X-Wing. As with many of the other vehicles in this series, the canopy opens and the landing gear is retractable.

Hasbro Resistance X-Wing - Titanium Series 02

Here is an X-Wing from The Force Awakens. Part of Hasbro's Titanium Series. Doesn't really belong with the Death Star, but it's the only background that I have for the moment, and I like the image.

Hot Wheels Millennium Falcon (CGW56)

Here is the Millennium Falcon that Hot Wheels has released. This one is a hit in my opinion. Nice detail for the scale and the tampos are sharp and well done.

Hot Wheels Republic Attack Gunship (CGW58)

I really like the design of the Republic Attack Gunship from the Star Wars universe, and was happy to pick up Hot Wheels version. I already had the Hasbro version, and they are about the same size. The Hasbro version is more detailed, but the Hot Wheels seems sturdier.

Hasbro Republic Gunship - Titanium series 23

This always reminds me of the venerable Huey. Here is Hasbro's Republic Gunship - 23 in the Titanium series.

Hasbro Sith Infiltrator - Titanium series 21

The landing gear on this model is fragile and doesn't work well. But the overall look of Hasbro's Sith Infiltrator is good, and it gets high marks from me overall.

Hasbro Sand Speeder - Titanium series 09

Another great offering from Hasbro - the Sand Speeder from A New Hope. The cockpit is well-done, and the overall look is a nice representation of the movie version.

Hasbro First Order Transporter - Titanium series 14

I love the fact that this is essentially the space version of a LCM landing craft. JJ Abrams could have done more of a Saving Private Ryan thing when this deployed their storm troopers. Hasbro did another nice job on this model.

Hasbro TIE Advanced fighter - Titanium series 15.

This model is particular hefty - a lot of metal in this one. Nicely detailed and a good version of the fighter made famous by Lord Vader. Wish that all of this series was up to this standard.

Hasbro Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle - Titanium series 03

Not sure why it is white. Death Star is from Mattel and is made to hold the Hot Wheels Star Wars vehicles.

Hasbro Y-Wing - Titanium Series 08

One of the small fighters that took on the Death Star, here is Hasbro's Y-Wing fighter from the Titanium series. Like the A-Wing fighter from this series, it's marred by prominent seems between the top and bottom halves. Also, it's back heavy so it doesn't rest on the front skid. Still a good purchase, though, overall.

Hasbro First Order Star Destroyer - Titanium series 06

Number 6 in Hasbro's Titanium series of die-cast Star Wars vehicles, here is a First Order Star Destroyer from The Force Awakens. I'm of the belief that capital ships such as this one wouldn't undergo this much change from its predecessors, given how little difference their is between Imperial TIE Fighters and First Order TIE fighters.

Hasbro A-Wing fighter - Titanium Series 20

Hasbro has released a fairly extensive range of small-scale diecast Star Wars vehicles. Here is their A-Wing model. According to Wookipedia its first appearance was in the Return of the Jedi. I generally like the Hasbro diecast, but this one is a little disappointing. The front landing gear is loose, so it won't remain stowed when on the in-flight stand. Also, the lines formed between the 2 halves of the model are too prominent. For $5.00, though, it's worth the cost.

Hasbro Imperial Star Destroyer - Titanium series 24

Another offering from Hasbro's Titanium Series - here is #24, the Imperial Star Destroyer. It's difficult to be that detailed at this small of a scale. But the model captures its subject well. I like the fact that the Tantive IV is depicted in the hold. I was 10 when Star Wars was released, and the space battle, such as the one-sided engagement was, where the Tantive IV was captured, was so cool for me.

Hasbro B-Wing Fighter - Titanium series 16

Here is Hasbro's B-Wing Fighter from the Titanium Series. It proved particularly difficult to photograph. Surprised to see that it never made it into the movies.

Hasbro's Anakin Skywalker's Jedi Starfighter - Titanium series 22

Went and saw The Force Awakens for the 2nd time since its release and got motivated to add some photos of my Star Wars vehicles. Here is Hasbro's Anakin Skywalker's Jedi Starfighter from the recent Titanium Series. It is item # B4591.

Mattel has released a series of Star Wars diecast vehicles under its Hot Wheels brand that sell for about the same amount of money and are roughly the same size. I prefer the Hasbro models - the Hot Wheels seem to be more robust, but the Hasbro are more detailed.

Cereal Premiums - Star Wars

Nostalgia struck me in the supermarket aisles and I felt compelled to buy cereal just for the promised toy. Hadn't done that in over thirty years. I like Reese's Puffs cereal, but couldn't fool the wife into believing that I got it for anything but the toy inside. One thing that's changed for the better - the toy is separately bagged so there is no need to dig through the cereal to find it. Here is one of the promised viewers - shaped like the robot PZ-4CO from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I loved these types of viewers as a kid, and still appreciate them today. I like the perceived need to include instructions as to how to use a toy you look through. The act of reading the instruction is actually more complex than using the actual toy.
